Ying is a Foreign Legal Advisor in the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group and the Entertainment and Media Practice Group of Samuel Seow Law Corporation.

Ying grew up in Melbourne and graduated in 2005 with double degree in Law and Commerce from Monash University and was admitted to practice later that year in the Supreme Court of Victoria, Australia. After admission, Ying joined the Immigration Department of Australia.


Before joining Samuel Seow Law Corporation, Ying worked as a Foreign Associate in a medium-sized firm in Singapore where she gained valuable experience on a variety of corporate and commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions work relating to corporate and real estate matters, joint ventures, event sponsorships and other general corporate advisory matters.

Her experience to-date includes the following:

  • Advising and drafting event sponsoring agreements and other ancillary documents for a 2009 Singapore sporting event.

  • Assisting with the transfer of business assets and purchase of shares by drafting and advising on sale and purchase agreements and related corporate resolutions, including the acquisition of a popular chain of restaurants in Singapore.

  • Advising on a share swap transaction with related financial assistance issues.

  • Drafting and reviewing of shareholders agreements, employment contracts, contracts for services, confidentiality agreements and artiste engagement contracts.

  • Drafting an advising an artiste engagement and artiste management agreements.

  • Drafting and advising on co-production, financing & distribution agreements for film and television.

  • Rendering legal opinions for the purpose of securing errors and omission insurance for film and television.

  • Drafting and advising on music licensing agreements.

  • Advising on the establishment of non-profit organisations and application for charity/IPC status for such organisations.

  • Advising individuals and companies interested in registering corporate and other types of business entities in Singapore.

A basketball enthusiast since the tender age of 10, Ying enjoys spending her spare time shooting hoops with her mates as well as engaging in other outdoor activities, such as rock climbing which she recently picked up. Now what happened to good old knitting?
