In her six years of legal practice she has accumulated experience in a broad range of insurance disputes, having represented and advised local and foreign Insurers and Insurance Intermediaries in various matters including regulatory compliance, general insurance claims, road traffic accident claims, industrial accident and workmen’s compensation claims.

Her experience includes the following:-

• Represented and advised local and foreign Insurers and Insurance Intermediaries in various matters including regulatory compliance.

• Acted to defend employers and main contractors in personal injury claims made by injured workers.

• Acted to defend numerous motorists in non-injury, personal injury and fatal accident claims.

• Advised and acted for insurers on policy liability.

• Acted on behalf of insurers in relation to subrogated claims.

• Acted on behalf of an overseas Insurer in a claim for contribution against a local tortfeasor.

• Acted on behalf of coffeeshop owners in defending claims made by neighbouring tenants when fire escaped from coffee shop.

• Acted to defend MCST against a claim made for breach of occupier’s liability.

• Acted on behalf of purchaser of damaged electrical transformers to recover damages under Sale of Goods.

• Representing a Singapore statutory authority in proceedings to recover unpaid fees under the relevant legistration.

• Assisted in the defence of TV Media Pte Ltd in a claim made by Ms Andrea De Cruz for personal injuries sustained after consuming Slim 10 pills.

• Negotiated a settlement with the dependants and estate of Ms Rajakrishnan Selvaraniee who also consumed Slim 10 pills.
  

In her spare time, Waltan is one of Stephen King’s Constant Readers and enjoys playing World of Warcraft (she is currently a level 70 Blood Elf Death Knight).
