The firm is well-versed in the preparation, prosecution and maintenance of trade marks and copyright registration and it has the capacity to ensure the clearance, protection and management of clients‘ intellectual property. The firm also has extensive experience in a wide range of IP-related transactional matters. It has prepared, advised on and negotiated such transactions for clients from various industries; for example, licensing agreements, franchising agreements, distribution agreements, technology transfer agreements, research collaboration agreements and confidentiality agreements.
PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION COMPLIANCE
The firm provides advice relating to personal data protection compliance and attends to the preparation of relevant legal documentation in relation thereto. The firm has also conducted numerous audits as well as training sessions for personal data protection compliance.

A partner in Seow & Associates, Jessie‘s expertise and forte lies in the field of intellectual property as well as in general commercial and corporate law and conveyancing, with a special focus on the application of these laws to the entertainment, arts and media industries, employment and environmental law. She has drafted and advised on matters from various industries including the media, telecommunications, internet, pharmaceutical, food & beverage and fashion sectors.
Jessie is also the legal advisor to various associations and agencies, and as legal advisor to such associations and agencies, Jessie oversees all their compliance and legal issues and advises on corporate planning strategies, business expansion activities and the preparation of legal documents and the closing of transactions.
In addition to providing legal advice to clients, Jessie also regularly conducts training for clients on a wide gamut of matters, these include personal data protection compliance, employment related matters as well as basis principals for understanding contract laws.
CHEONG SHIH WEN
Shih Wen is a Partner at Seow & Associates, Kuala Lumpur – an associate legal practice of Samuel Seow Law Corporation.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Law (Hons) from Multimedia University Malaysia and has been called to the Malaysian Bar.
She has vast experience in the areas of corporate and commercial laws and, throughout her practice, she has been involved in various due diligence exercises for both foreign and local companies and advised and drafted contracts for clients from various industries. She also carries her experience from being a legal counsel in an oil and gas company in Malaysia.
In her free time, Shih Wen enjoys reading and playing video games with her brothers.
Joel is an Associate with Seow & Associates, Kuala Lumpur – an associate legal practice of Samuel Seow Law Corporation.
Joel graduated with a Bachelor of Law (Hons) from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and obtained his Certificate in Legal Practice prior to commencing practice.
Joel believes that the cornerstone of a rewarding experience in the legal field is a deep passion for the law, which in his case derives from a healthy interest in crafting arguments, solving problems, and observing how laws have developed in tandem with society over the course of time. He strives to develop a harmonious relationship between these driving forces and the needs of his clients, being the essence of an efficient and wholesome legal practice in his eyes.
He has significant experience in civil litigation, corporate, commercial, and employment law, amongst other various fields of law. Throughout his practice, he has been involved in various corporate exercises for both foreign and local companies, advised on a myriad of legal issues and has reviewed and drafted contracts for clients from various industries.
Joel enjoys learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (which is, incidentally, entirely opposite to his usually gentle demeanour), reading epic fantasies, and watching football and mixed martial arts whenever he has the time.
